Guinnesspig's Blog by tag 'Site related' (31)
So after about a week or so (Simply have not had time) I was getting NAILED by spam bots, which was not ideal at all, while I was on holiday, didn't have much time to fix anything, none the less folks, I'm back and running!
I must really apologise for not posting TFWB, I know i'm a terrible person :( welcome back all, sorry for the incon!
Well, unfortunatly my site might have slowed down a little for those of you in SA, but I had no choice but to take the site to the US cause we've been paying SERIOUS amounts of money in bandwidth here in SA.
None the less, all seems to be working again! and YAY, 2TB of bandwidth to knock through a month yeehaaa":!":!@@!"
My New hosting provider is Media Temple and their systems I must applaude them on are really fantastic! big up yawl.
Big up to my Bus Partner Ratt for helping me out with moving the site and all the content ect :>
OK so what i've done is fixed a few small bugs / oversights that appeared on the website, not sure if anyone would have noticed them, but none the less they're gone now.
Bugs fixed
- When viewing blogs by month or my day, the comments had no link on it, link added.
- When viewing the samepage as above mentioned, the comments link at the bottom didnt exist, link added.
- Google advert didnt exist on these pages eithe, added in there now
Feature
I've been wanting to do this for a while and in looking at the code, I need to write it again, it's old already, pfffffft! none the less.
When you are now posting a comment, and you click on the "list comments" tab the first time, I do an ajax call, then everytime there after I first check if the element that is displaying either the form or comments is empty and if it's not empty I simply show and hide the correct content (as it's already loaded) if the element is empty, then i'll fire the ajax call.
This will also help with being able to view the comments and write a comment at the same time without having to keep reloading the form or comments.
OK Bye
okie dokie, I have sorted out the problem with the contact us page, it's now all sorted and seems to be working, the only issue I now have is that there was a bug of sorts now the blog comments now which was giving us a SQL error, not sure how to replicate.
None the less I'm aware of this issue, and will be sorted this out.
I am also aware that the comments are getting slightly cut off when inserted to the database, which i'll also investigate.
What's been sorted.
- Contact us Fixed
- Emails being sent to me to notify me of new posts
- minor graphic changes completed
As and when I have more time i'l get the rest fixed up :)
Update:
- Planning on opening the comment box defaulted to the comments if there is more than one comment already, so you wont have to press the tab
- Remove unnessesarry (kief spelling) ajax calls
- Make sure that if you "subscribe" that you actually get notified ;)
- Replace :) with and nice little piccie etc.
As ya'll can see, I've been working on a new website and it's all super spiff!
Some new features, obviously you'll see the new Ajax module for commetns and there ar ea couple of spiffy new things, pretty exciting stuff!
TFWB to come NOW NOW YEEEEEHAAAAA
Well the site migration all seemed to work pretty well, a few mods here and there but I'm up and running again, yeee haaa! Have a good weekend all :)

If you get the new holding page, it means its been resolved to my new server, I'll remove that tomorrow, so never fear i'll be back here!
