Hamas proposes 1-year ceasefire

Cairo - Israel has proposed to Egyptian mediators an 18-month ceasefire with Hamas, but the Islamist group that controls Gaza said it wants a one-year ceasefire, a Hamas official said on Sunday.

"Hamas listened to the Israeli proposal presented by [Israeli Defence Ministry official] Amos Gilad, and with it a proposal for a ceasefire for a year and a half, but Hamas presented a counterproposal of one year only," Ayman Taha told reporters in Cairo after talks with Egyptian intelligence officials.

Taha reiterated the group's calls for a lifting of the blockade imposed on the impoverished and devastated Gaza Strip by Israel and Egypt.

I really just do hope that for the sake of all these innocent people they agree to this cease fire, and in all honesty I hope that they never have to go to war again.

Personally, my thoughts are... as long as there is religion, there will be war there :(

Sweet and short, Zuma's been put up for corruption again.

SCA upholds appeal

The Supreme Court of Appeal on Monday upheld an appeal by the National Director of Public Prosecutions against a High Court ruling that halted the prosecution of African National Congress leader Jacob Zuma.

This means that Zuma, the frontrunner for the presidency in the upcoming elections, will still have to face corruption charges. - Sapa

Everytime I look at the news there is more kak happening with the ANC, now recently the Cape Town mayor leaves the ANC, could this be the start of a looooooooong downfall.

Since Mandela Retired as president and *left* the ANC, it's certainly only gone for a downer, problem is that they need leaders in their organization, and all they have is dictators. problem.

Cape mayor quits the ANC

Cedarburg municipality has a new DA mayor after ANC proportional representative Sylvia Newman resigned from the post and the party on Wednesday - leaving the ANC with 21 days to replace her on the council.

DA ward councillor Judith Mouton has taken over the post temporarily.

Control of the Cedarburg municipality is with the DA after the ANC had failed to register its delegates for last week's by-elections.

Newman said she would consider her options, which could include joining the Congress of the People (COPE).

Chicago - Barack Obama wrote a new chapter into US history on Tuesday becoming the first African-American elected president, capping a stunning rise which in just four years propelled him into the Oval Office.

I'm pretty sure that by now most of you know that our president has "kind" of been forced to step down as president.

Now i'm not very good with politics, but certainly understand what's happended here. It boils down to a bunch of power greedy monkeys trying to runa a country, I did watch his address to the nation last night, and was pretty moving actually.

What's to happen in the short and long term, I really dont know to be totally hones.

remember a while back, I wrote about Zim going for a heap of shit, and then again a while after that, well, seems like i'm right, I'm telling you the only way to get rid of Mugabe is with a bomb_gun_panga which ever suits.

Zim's 'death sentence'

Defiant Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, reeling from a parliamentary setback, said on Wednesday he would form a new government without the Movement for Democratic Change, in what Morgan Tsvangirai's party called "a death sentence" for Zimbabweans.

"We shall soon be setting up a government," the state-controlled daily Herald newspaper quoted Mugabe as saying. "The MDC does not want to come in, apparently."

Describing his last cabinet as "the worst in history" Mugabe said he would be appoint ministers who would be "managers."

The threat raises questions about Mugabe's commitment to power-sharing talks with the MDC, ahead of an expected visit to Harare by South African President Thabo Mbeki.

Mugabe rejects PM offer

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) has offered Morgan Tsvangirai a 50-50 power-sharing deal as prime minister with President Robert Mugabe, but the Movement for Democratic Change rejected this, offering the prime minister post to Mugabe instead.

A furious Mugabe rejected the counter-offer, sources said last night.

But the MDC scored a symbolic victory in the "recognition" by the SADC that parliament may have to be convened even as talks continued - based "on the will of the people" as expressed by the results of the March 29 parliamentary elections, which the MDC won.

However, such a move might scupper the dialogue between the three negotiating parties because it means Mugabe would immediately have to appoint a new cabinet. Doing this before the negotiations are completed would entail Tsvangirai being excluded from a new government, contrary to an African Union resolution demanding the formation of an all-inclusive government.

Remember a while ago I said that Mugabe has something up his sleev, well I was right, have a little squiz at what's happened, Tsangarai has been "sidelined" and a deal has been signed by Mugabe and opposition MDC faction leader Arthur Mutambara, pretty sick.

Read the full article on news24.com

Now I like these few quotes.

"We, and the MDC headed by Mutambara have signed the agreement. Tsvangirai did not sign the agreement because he is basically trying to take us back, to renegotiate issues that we had already agreed on," the official told Reuters.

"We are proceeding, and the president (Mugabe) is going to form a government of national unity including members of the opposition."

Can you say bull$hit?

Then of caorse you must not forget statistics as stated below.

The agreement could be a setback to efforts to end the post-election political crisis and hurt efforts to end an economic catastrophe.

Mutambara was a key player in the power-sharing talks and his small MDC faction's 10 seats will give Mugabe sway in Parliament.

Read the second paragraph, yes, Mugabe can still sway parliment.

Good job of mediating Thabo Mbeki, personally I think you're a f**ing twit :)

Anyways, the other part to this whole deal is that Mugabe is now getting ready for himself to "start to stand down" but the final part of him standing down, will be after he has turned 85 and in effect can never be charged for political violence or any nature after this age.

Hopefully by this time someone will have shot his head, and the whole world can stop wasting money this anti chrsit we call Mugabe.

Well it's starting to look kind of hopefull for Zimbabwe, but then again, you never know what the Devil has up his sleeve

Amnesty plan for Mugabe

Under a gracious exit plan, Robert Mugabe will become Zimbabwe's ceremonial president during the forthcoming transition, after which he will retire as the Founding President and father of the beleaguered nation, protected under a blanket amnesty.

According to a draft settlement, in the possession of The Star, Morgan Tsvangirai will run the country as the new executive prime minister in a transitional government that will pave the way for fresh elections in the future.

The 50-page plus draft was circulated between the two rivals when they circumnavigated the Pretoria talks two weeks ago and liaised indirectly with one another in Harare via intermediaries.
